BLACKOUT Manila

Built around the idea of being “not just a festival”, BLACKOUT Manila brings together Gaming, Music, and Arts into one space. The visual direction had to carry that scale without losing clarity.

Visual Path

The identity started as a structured blueprint, almost like laying out a magazine system. Typography, grid, and graphic elements were intentionally defined early to create a strong foundation before anything went live.

As the festival grew, so did the number of voices shaping it. Different teams, different inputs, different priorities. The visual system had to stretch without breaking. The challenge was keeping the core language recognizable while allowing room for collaboration and evolving ideas.

Backbone

What remained consistent was the backbone.

Across decks, social media, reels, LED walls, and printed collaterals, the identity stayed grounded in its original structure while adapting to the energy of a multi-genre festival.

Output

When the visuals moved from layout to stage, the system proved its weight. LED walls carried the typography at scale, compositions held under light and motion, and the structure translated as intended. The creative friction along the way became part of the build.

By the time the festival opened, the identity no longer felt theoretical. It lived in the space. The response from attendees, especially toward the atmosphere and overall visual experience, confirmed that the language held.
